Vaccinations
Flu - we give flu vaccinations in the months of October, November, December and January. The ordering of vaccine supplies is ideally undertaken in February and March to ensure deliveries.
Influenza is a major cause of illness and mortality worldwide. Influenza vaccination can substantially reduce sickness absence rates at work and can reduce the rates of transmission and subsequent new cases of flu.
Influenza costs to businesses:
- absenteeism, temporary staff and overtime expenditure
- interruption of services, down time and reduced product deliveries
- lost or reduced sales
Each infected employee will pass the virus to their colleagues, family members, and their neighbours at large, including those in vulnerable risk categories e.g. the elderly or those with weakened immune systems.
Each vaccination noticeably improves people’s chances for an influenza free winter, and can significantly enhance a company’s profitability.
Five reasons to provide influenza vaccinations:
- reduces the number of upper respiratory illness by 25 - 34%
- reduces the number of sickness absence days from work by 32 - 43%
- reduces antibiotic use for influenza-associated illnesses by 25%
- a bout of flu can account for 10 working days of sickness absence = £500 per employee
The cost of a flu vaccination is therefore a great cost effective employee benefit.
£500 versus £13 (£13 includes paperwork, vaccine, consent, nurse, sharps disposal)!
Please remember, we start ordering our vaccines in February and March to ensure guaranteed deliveries from our supplier, so please contact us as soon as possible. However, our vaccine supplier will in some instances take later orders if these are guaranteed orders.
